Unfortunately a few things have occurred over the last couple of months which prevented me from getting much sewing done and therefore I had nothing to blog about! So I've been lurking and nosing around other peoples blogs instead!
So my 'series of unfortunate events' ... they weren't quite as drastic as the events in the film, although I only remember bits of the film! Anyway firstly my sewing machine broke, which meant a trip to the shop where it took them 2 weeks to fix it (this happened on the first day of my weeks leave which I planned to fill with finishing this quilt so I wasn't too impressed). Then I managed to slice a chuck out of my finger.. strangely enough when I did so I wasn't using scissors/rotary cutter/knife, no I was shopping and caught it! That meant I sported a lovely clumsy bandage for a week or two. I had some family stuff going on for a few weeks as well which meant the time to sew or do anything apart from work wasn't available. Then when I got the opportunity to try out my sewing machine again it wasn't working so it had to make a return trip to the shop! Oh and in the middle of all that the central heating had to be fixed which unfortunately required the plumber to rip up the floor in my sewing room so it is now uninhabitable! I've had to relocate :-)
...my machine is back :)
In between all the madness described above I did manage to start my Amy Butler Frenchie Bag so everything is chopped up ready for sewing together.
And I started on another quilt... well I decided I had to do something with the remains of my hushabye jelly roll! This one is going quite well. Top is done, I've started piecing the back and I've even bought the batting!
I've decided since I have no real plan for this quilt I'm going to experiment and have a go at free motion/stippling quilting. It might be a disaster but with no recipient in mind if I destroy it, it doesn't matter :)
I've not had many attempts at free motion quilting but I decided I could use all the help I can get so I purchased a few things to hopefully make it go a little smoother than it has in the past (can't hurt right!?)
I also really enjoyed the Blogger's Quilt Festival.
I did not enter and I didn't look through all the entries as I would have liked but I had a quick nose through a few and found a few more blogs to follow :-) I think my google reader will start to groan with the effort of showing all the updates soon! But that's ok I like finding new blogs to visit. I hope to have another look through the Blogger's Quilt Festival entries when I have more time and find even more fabulous blogs to follow!
Finally in an effort to get some positive sewing energy flowing again lol I've decided to take part in the Friday night sew in this week. Fingers crossed anyway. I should be able to shut myself up on Friday night and hopefully make some good progress with this quilt, because I ideally want it done by Christmas....which is a long shot, but there is a shot :-)
